Rooted in her own lived experience, Find Your Anchor brings color, creativity, and humanity to suicide prevention. Guest co-host Aila Malik brought Ali to the mic to share how a grassroots nonprofit with a product reached 116,000 boxes through handwritten notes, community box builds, and partners from middle schools to the San Francisco 49ers.

Meet Ali: The Designer Who Turned Lived Experience Into a Community of Strangers Who Care

Ali Borowsky is the founder and executive director of Find Your Anchor, a Long Beach, California-based suicide prevention nonprofit. Before launching Find Your Anchor, Ali was the design lead for the NHL Winter Classic and Stadium Series. She speaks openly about surviving multiple suicide attempts, and built Find Your Anchor around a simple belief: if strangers show you they care, it gets easier to believe your friends and family do, too.

Under Ali's leadership, Find Your Anchor has partnered with organizations from Wounded Warrior Project to the San Francisco 49ers. Her anchor lately? Anything ube.

Guest Co-Host: Aila Malik is a lawyer, children’s book author, and former adjunct lecturer in juvenile justice at Santa Clara University School of Law. She is the founder and co-principal of Venture Leadership Collective, where she draws on more than 20 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations in education, justice, and community work launch, expand, and grow.
