Julie Confer

PaRTNER + head of media

Hi I’m Julie! I’m so happy you’re here. I am honored to serve as the Content Manager and Producer (and registered hype girl) here at We are for Good. I wasn’t always sure what to say when someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I always knew I wanted to help people. It didn’t take long for the world of philanthropy to capture my heart in college, and I spent my time at the University of Oklahoma studying Communication and Nonprofit Organizational Studies. I was humbled to learn from some of the best in the industry at Make-A-Wish and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through incredible internships, and quickly discovered the value of mentorship and championing each other towards a greater good - no matter the mission. After college, I began my career at INTEGRIS Foundation, where I met Jon and Becky and was able to serve as the Donor Relations Specialist for the largest nonprofit healthcare system in the state of Oklahoma.

To my young professional friends - I, like you, often feel intimidated by the lofty fundraising goals and projects in front of me. My dream is that We are for Good will be a space to interact with and learn from some of the best in the industry, and feel supported and celebrated all along the way.

When I’m not at work you can find me at the best local brunch and coffee shops, traveling with my friends and family, reading cheesy self-help books, or losing my voice at OU football games. I can’t wait to share your stories, celebrate your accomplishments, and join you in bringing more goodness into the world. *fist bump*

FUN FACTS

  • In 2018 I was the 9th person in my extended family to graduate from the University of Oklahoma.

  • I grew up in Flower Mound, a suburb of Dallas, Texas, where you could find me dancing and high kicking at halftime of high school football games on what my out of state friends called the “Rockettes of Texas”

  • I believe a good dance party is the best stress relief. In high school I danced in the Super Bowl XLV halftime show with the Black Eyed Peas (my peak in life)

  • In college I studied abroad in Gulu, Uganda and got to live and hang out with one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, Sister Rosemary.

  • I talked about Yoga with Laura Bush at breakfast once (she is exponentially cooler than me)

  • I believe life is more fun when you live in celebration. Let me know if you have a birthday, wedding, or promotion coming up soon and I will be there with confetti and champagne.

  • If you’re an enneagram nerd like me I am a 2w3, “The Hostess” (does my bullet above make sense now?)

  • I love to travel and explore new places! I love the moments when the world feels a little bit smaller.

  • In college I helped launch a 24 hour fundraising campaign through my sorority benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We set out to raise $15k in a day and ended with $38,000. I learned how powerful it is when you mobilize a large group of individuals, and now sorority chapters all across the country are doing their own 24 hour fundraising challenges for St. Jude!

  • I’m currently figuring out “adulting” life with my amazing roommates and friends in Oklahoma City one brunch and coffee date at a time.
